si, mi piace moltissimo, anche perchè ho visto la trascrizione e ci si può studiare sopra due anni per la quantità di idee e invenzioni che ci sono all'interno. Dai cambi di ritmo, tempo, tonalità, intonazione, le armonizzazioni. Per non parlare dell'orchestrazione, l'utilizzo dei timbri degli strumenti, la disposizione delle voci. potendo vedere anche la trascrizione (e i nomi che compaiono e hanno detto si a prestare la voce per fare una nota solo per poterci essere, vicino a lui....) fa veramente impressione il livello di comprensione della musica che ha. Le parole di Steve Vai lo spiegano bene, è qualcosa che si vede una volta ogni secolo, quello che provavano i grandi dell'epoca davanti a un Beethoven

I believe he is an 'Indigo' child. These are people who are born with an evolved sense of creativity in a particular field and foster the evolution of consciousness and creativity on the planet. They seem to have a direct shot to their unique and powerful creativity. It was obvious by watching Jacob that everything he did seemed easy, fun and filled with intense life and was incredibly rich and moving. He was completely present at all times.

I would not say he performs emotionally. Instead he is connected. He's connected to the free flowing creative impulse of the Universe itself in his now. That's much deeper than performing 'emotionally.' After the concert I just felt grateful to be alive to have seen it, that's how rewarding it was. And I believe he will inspire many people to find their own inner free flowing creative genius and it will be quite wonderful to watch the paradigm shift unfold.

L'ho visto a Fano, e dopo mezz'ora è scoppiata una tromba d'aria e il concerto è stato sospeso, ma quei 3 brani che ha suonato sono stati la cosa più pazzesca che abbia mai visto. Non ho mai invidiato tanto i miei amici con l'orecchio assoluto come in quel momento, visto che riuscivano a cogliere molti più dettagli di me

Purtroppo non sono così avanzato né da cogliere i tecnicismi, né sopratutto l'insieme, che mi sembra alla fine un patchwork senza un filo rosso. Ma il problema è il mio livello culturale musicale inadeguato, non sono in grado di comprenderne il linguaggio. Mi consola, relativamente, che siete in pochi ad essere in grado di apprezzare appieno.

si i suoi dischi sono in gran parte brani originali, con qualche arrangiamento tipo questo dentro. C'è da dire che in genere risulta più moderato nelle sue cose: gli arrangiamenti che fa di brani altrui sono quasi da ADHD, un esplosione costante di livelli che si sovrappongono e twist, mentre riesce a essere più "rilassato" nei suoi brani, Questo è uno che mi piace molto, relativamente semplice (a parte le battute in 5/4 e in 6/4)

vedo che tutti i miei amici e colleghi con l'orecchio assoluto ne vanno letteralmente MATTI. Deve essere una cosa proprio a livello percettivo, che chi non è come loro (Jacob Collier ha ovviamente l'orecchio assoluto) e quindi non ha quella capacità di cogliere le relazioni a livello istantaneo non riesce a seguire. Di recente parlavo proprio con un mio amico pianista che mi ha detto che in genere riesce a distinguere un musicista/compositore con l'orecchio assoluto da uno che non ce l'ha, non per via della bravura, ma per via dello stile. Mi ha detto che in genere, per quanto bravi e creativi, quelli senza orecchio assoluto tendono a basarsi molto più su schemi, organizzazioni ed elaborazioni delle stesse, e che lui tende a riconoscere la cosa. Per quanto complessa, risulta musica "ordinata". Mentre la musica dei grandi con l'orecchio assoluto ha più twist, giravolte e "caos organizzato". In questo senso Jacob Collier è forse l'esempio più calzante: un esplosione dopo l'altra. È un discorso molto interessante che è saltato fuori proprio perchè si era sbagliato su un nostro prof: questo mio amico era convinto che il prof avesse l'orecchio assoluto ascoltando e suonando alcuni suoi arrangiamenti e si è detto molto positivamente colpito del fatto che un "normale"  riuscisse a scrivere così

Io non sono in grado neanche di apprezzare appieno Cocaine eseguita da Clapton perché l'unica volta che c'ho provato non sono neanche riuscito a sbrogliare i due assoli che si sovrappongono, quindi figuriamoci se sono in grado di cogliere appieno tutto quello che c'è dentro il brano postato di Collier.
Però- mi dico sempre - perché abdicare subito? La musica è fatta per essere ascoltata e goduta, e a meno che non comunichi una sensazione sgradevole e respingente, perché non essere curiosi e sottoporsi all'ascolto di qualcosa che ci viene consigliato da altri amanti della musica? L'importante è porsi in una disposizione positiva, pronta a cogliere e a lasciarsi andare, piuttosto che farci spaventare da una dimensione sonora che non ci è abituale.
Tanto abbiamo tutta la possibilità di rientrare nella nostra comfort zone musicale appena ne sentiamo l'esigenza.
In fondo non è un attentato alla nostra abituale musica preferita. Quella nessuno ce la tocca.

Domani mi metto d'impegno ad ascoltare diversi degli artisti premiati e non.

A mio parere è un lavoro strepitoso a livello di arrangiamenti, riarmonizzazioni, finezze ritmiche e sonore!! Semplicemente stellare!
Un'esplosione di capacità, tecnica, gusto e competenza musicale senza che sia mai solo dimostrativa o fine a sè stessa, sempre ricca di riferimenti elevati (cori a cappella, blues, swing, funk, jazz, soul, aperture armoniche moderne, ecc.).

Che però possa non incontrare il gusto personale mi pare altrettanto normale, come accade per ogni cosa in campo espressivo ed artistico...
